Are you struggling to keep your home cool during the summer? If so, we may be able to assist you through the Senior Cool Care Program. Senior Cool Care provides single room air conditioners or fans to income-eligible seniors who need help cooling their homes. It is funded by Dominion Energy and administered through the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS).
You may qualify if:
- You live in Senior First’s coverage area of Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah, Warren, or Winchester
- At or below 150% of the poverty level, and
- Age 60 or older
This program runs May 1 through October 31st, 2026, or while supplies last. Keep in mind, the fans and air conditioners are issued on a first-come basis.

Please note that Senior Cool Care funds may not be used for utility bill payment. Those persons in need of assistance with bill payments are encouraged to apply for Energy Share or Cooling Assistance Programs through their local Department of Social Services.
