Executive Director Position
Lead the Future of Senior Services
Seniors First is seeking an experienced, visionary, and community-focused Executive Director to lead our organization in serving older adults. Our service area includes the counties of Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah and Warren and the city of Winchester. This is an exceptional opportunity for a passionate leader to guide a respected nonprofit organization dedicated to helping seniors live independently, safely, and with dignity.
Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, fiscal management, personnel supervision, and representation of the agency to the communities served and to all levels of government. The Executive Director ensures compliance with state and federal requirements while advancing the organization’s mission and expanding services to meet the evolving needs of older adults.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and management of agency operations and programs.
- Develop and administer the agency’s annual budget.
- Lead strategic planning and implementation of the Area Plan in accordance with state and federal policies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, service providers, government agencies, funding sources, and stakeholders.
- Evaluate and strengthen existing programs while identifying opportunities for new services.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, contracts, and grant requirements.
- Oversee personnel management, including hiring, supervision, training, performance evaluation, and professional development.
- Advocate for the needs and interests of older adults throughout the region.
- Represent the agency through public speaking, community engagement, and partnership development.
- Monitor program quality and contract performance to ensure excellence in service delivery.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Strong knowledge of aging services, social and health issues affecting older adults, and available community resources.
- Understanding of governmental, fiscal, and program management principles.
- Proven abilities in organizational leadership and teamwork.
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
- Ability to interpret and administer complex state and federally funded programs.
- Demonstrated ability to develop productive partnerships and collaborative relationships.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, Gerontology, Social Work, Nursing, or a related field.
- Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- Significant management experience in aging services, human services, nonprofit leadership, healthcare, or related fields with evidence of communityengagement
- Experience with grant management and resource development strongly preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the region and state.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Ability to meet physical requirements associated with office and community-based work.
- Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.
